Ventura County Heat
Welcome to the Ventura County Heat!!! This page will give you the information regarding the VC Heat Organization as well as what is required from you and your child. Please read all the information provided below before accepting the terms of this waiver.
Overview
The Ventura County Heat is a year round Club Basketball team put together with three goals in mind. 1) To make our kids great basketball players. 2) To promote how to become a good person in life. 3) To teach them how to be winners. We are doing this by teaching the kids the right way to play the game and by playing a much higher level of competition than they would get playing in School or Rec Leagues.
Team Breakdown
We have teams for the following Age & Grade Levels… 9u/3rd, 10u/4th, 11u/5th, 12u/6th, 13u/7th, and 14u/8th. They are categorized based on what age your child is on September 1st of set year. We may have more than 1 team per Age/Grade level. They will be differentiated by the following colors: Black (Highest Level), Orange (Middle Level), and White (Lower Level). Players will NOT be placed on a level. When we attend tournaments, they will be asked to play on one of the levels.
Where do we Play?
The Heat players will have a chance to play in 11 to 22 tournaments a year (1 to 2 per month). We will play most of the tournaments local, meaning within 45 minutes, but for some tournaments, we travel as far North as San Lois Obispo and as far South as San Diego. Tournaments are mostly 2 days running on Saturday & Sunday. Occasionally, there are tournaments that include a Friday and/or a Monday (usually on holiday weekends).
Practices/Time Required
We usually have practices 2 times a week. Practice days are subject to change due to the availability of the gyms. Most practices are during the evening/night from anywhere between 5:30pm to 9:00pm. They range from 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours long. Practice days may vary based off of High School Teams’ practice schedules.
Cost
One of the questions that every parent wants answered, if your son makes the team, is “What are the costs?” So I am here to answer it for you.
There is a $125 fee to join the Ventura County Heat. Included in this fee are: the players Shooting Shirt, Back Pack, & Practice Jersey. The uniforms are owned by the VC Heat (Unless you Purchase One) so players must return them if they leave the team.
There is a $125 fee due every 1st of the month. This fee is to pay for Practice Gyms and Tournament Costs. The families that have more than one player in the program will get a $25 discount per player. Please Note: if Monthly fees are not paid by the 10th of the month, the player will not be able to play until fees have been paid.
We will also be doing Two Fundraisers a year to raise money to help cover extra costs the program incurs. All Players are required to raise at least $150 for each of these Fundraisers. Players that do not raise the money will not be able to play in tournaments until money is raised.
Note: We do allow Heat players to play other sports. In return, we ask that they stay involved by making as many practices/games as possible during that time.
Things We Need From You If And When You Make The Team!!!
1. The $125 Joining Fee.
2. The 1st month’s Fee.
3. A copy of the Player’s Birth Certificate.
4. A copy of the Player’s most recent School Report Card or Progress Report.
